let us all take a breath.
it is winter break after all.
i want to play in the snow (:

ps. im not entirely sure how
to classify this release.
it is not quite twee,
but not quite dream,
but definitely pop
and definitely awesome.

calculator. - arguments ep

wahoo. there is nothing
like some delicious emo/
(perhaps overly poppy) screamo
to pump a fellow up
for graduate school
application crunch time.

but really,
this is fantastic.

In Motion - The Language of Everday Life

I was a little
wary of this release
due to the questionable
album art,
but boy was i wrong.
this album is gorgeous,
catchy and oh so underrated.

i am going to wear oversized
sweaters and shave one side
of my head and dance
forever.

Amenra - Afterlife

Even though this at times
comes dangerously close
to sounding like a band
your typical mall goth
would worship,
i still think that this
ep is pretty intriguing.

Amenra typically plays
sludge, so this is obviously
a drastic departure,
but one that i feel is more grounded
due to said background.

plus, it is dark
and ultimately obscure.
the third song is pretty solid,
initially possessing the stark
exhaustion of sadcore.
and the last three tracks
are just the first three in reverse.
again, borderline tacky,
but intriguing.

(honestly,
i think i may like the
tracks in reverse more.)

1000 Travels Of Jawaharlal – Owari Wa Konai

Great 90's inspired emo/hardcore
from japan,
1000 travels are strange.
blasting
emotively
raw melodies,
yet they somehow still sound
punk.

Rafael Toral - Wave Field

i am directly
in the eye of the storm.
and for this moment,
am enjoying it's
fleeting serenity.

"Wave Field, "
is a beautiful
dual guitar soundscape
whos literal waves
wash out any hints
of instrumentation.

what a wonderful album
to hide away inside with.
take that snow.

Calvin Harris - Ready for the Weekend

After the last post,
there really is no possible
way to go forward.
The Sound of Arrows
always, always always,
blow me away.
But in honor of
the release of the new
single by Calvin Harris,
Flashback,
here is the album featuring
this smashing track.

Honestly, I don't
think it is the strongest
album around, but it is pretty solid,
and really Flashback is great.
It's just so difficult
to think that anything
is all that exciting
after the new
Sound of Arrows.
Seriously,
those videos (and songs)
are amazing.
